Planar tracking addon for Blender

Planar tracking in Blender without leaving Blender

MotionMaster 3D adds a Mocha-style planar tracker to Blender: draw a four-corner quad over a screen, sign, wall, or card, track it with a GPU engine, correct drift non-destructively, and publish a native Plane Track, Corner Pin, or 3D plane and camera.

Use this page when someone searches for a planar tracking addon or a Mocha alternative for Blender screen replacements, sign replacements, and set-extension planes.

Why Blender artists look for a planar tracking addon

Blender ships a basic plane track, but it depends on hand-placed point markers, drifts on motion blur and low-contrast surfaces, and offers no way to correct a slipping corner without redoing the track. Artists usually end up round-tripping through Mocha, After Effects, or Fusion just to get a stable corner pin back into Blender.

The MotionMaster 3D Planar Tracker replaces that round trip. You draw the quad directly on the reference frame in the Track Workspace, choose a motion model from Translation up to full Perspective, and track forward, backward, or both. Every accepted frame is committed immediately, so a hard section later in the shot never costs you the frames already solved.

  • Production CUDA engine: native C++/CUDA fixed-reference subpixel plane tracker with anti-drift acceptance gates.
  • TAPNext++ Hybrid engine for long, difficult tracks, plus a Classic CPU engine that runs on any machine.
  • Frame-by-frame blur, grain, and contrast measurement with scheduled reference-frame validation so drift is corrected before it accumulates.
  • AdjustTrack: fix a slipping corner with reference points or protected manual keys; the raw solve is never overwritten.

What you get back in Blender

Publishing writes a visible native four-corner Plane Track, an animated compositor Corner Pin node already wired to the Movie Clip, and a four-vertex 3D plane. Choose Object Motion for a camera-parented animated plane, or Camera Motion for a fixed plane and an animated camera solved through IPPE planar pose with focal-length estimation, so 3D set extensions and screen inserts sit correctly in perspective.

Multi-surface shots are handled in one place. The Track Workspace organizes several planes as layers with holdouts, shows a measured Track Error curve per layer, and can publish additional surfaces into the same Blender camera with Add To Existing Camera. Off-screen or occluded intervals are bridged with an explicit gap policy and are always labelled as generated, never as measured tracks.

Planar Tracking ships in the Max and Studio tiers alongside the Tripod Tracker, lens calibration and STMap export, the 3D Point Generator, and the full camera tracking and reconstruction pipeline. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.

  • Native Blender Plane Track, compositor Corner Pin, and 3D plane outputs.
  • Object Motion or Camera Motion publish, with several surfaces into one camera.
  • Portable planar_track.json result so outputs can be recreated from Import Results without retracking.
  • One-time purchase from $99 (Max), free 1.x updates, commercial use included.

Build the tracked Blender scene, not just a solve file

MotionMaster 3D starts at $39 as a one-time purchase and is built for camera tracking, reconstruction, masks, dense point clouds, mesh generation, cleanup, alignment, and batch workflows inside Blender.
