MotionMaster 3D documentation
Everything you need to install MotionMaster 3D, track your footage and turn it into a Blender scene. Start with the installation and your first camera track, then open the page for the tool you need from the menu on the left.

Which tool fits your shot?
The camera moves through the scene (walking, drone, dolly) Heavy Tracking You want a fast real-time preview and know the camera data Quick Tracking The camera only pans, tilts or rolls from one spot Tripod Tracker (Max) You need to follow a screen, sign, wall or other flat surface Planar Tracker (Max) People, cars or other moving objects cross the shot AI and polygon masks You need geometry for shadows, reflections or layout Dense point clouds and meshes You have many clips to process Batch processing You only have a still photo Perspective Matcher
Not sure which kind of tracking a shot needs? The tutorial camera vs planar vs tripod vs object tracking explains the difference with examples.
Requirements and licenses
- Platform: Windows with Blender 5.1 or newer (5.2 supported).
- GPU: an NVIDIA GPU with CUDA is strongly recommended. The add-on also runs on CPU-only systems, more slowly.
- Licenses: pages marked Max describe features that need the Max or Studio license. Everything else is included in every license. See pricing.

Getting started
- Installation MotionMaster 3D installs like any Blender add-on from a zip file, followed by four one-time setup steps in the add-on preferences: Visual C++ runtimes, Python dependencies, the Photogrammetry Importer and logging in with your account.
- Your first camera track The shortest path from a video file to a solved, aligned Blender camera. It uses the default settings that work for most clean handheld shots and points to the detailed pages for everything else.
- Panels and interface All MotionMaster 3D tools live in the 3D Viewport sidebar (N panel), ordered from top to bottom as one workflow. This page shows where everything is and links to the detailed page for each panel.
- What's new in 1.0.7 Version 1.0.7 is the largest MotionMaster 3D update so far. It adds a Planar Tracker with a dedicated Track Workspace, a rotation-only Tripod Tracker, a complete lens distortion, calibration, and STMap workflow, a two-view 3D Point Generator, point-cloud surface reconstruction, live camera projection, multi-frame texture baking, and a real Cancel button for running jobs. MotionMaster 3D now covers planar, tripod, and fully automatic camera tracking inside Blender.
Footage and masks
- Select and convert footage The Select Footage panel prepares video or image sequences before tracking. It can convert videos to numbered PNG sequences, downscale large image sequences, and keep source footage organized for Quick, Heavy, Dense, Mesh, and Batch workflows.
- AI and polygon masks Max The masking system helps Heavy Tracking ignore or isolate moving objects. It supports SAM2 AI mask layers, manually drawn polygon layers, keyframed polygon animation, and composed mask output.
- Batch processing Max Batch Processing lets MotionMaster 3D run repeated tracking and reconstruction operations across multiple sequences. It is designed for larger jobs where several shots need the same kind of processing.
Camera tracking
- Heavy Tracking Heavy Tracking is the primary high-quality workflow for camera reconstruction and solved lens data. Use it when the shot needs strong solve quality, a specific distortion model, calibration/STMap export, masks, undistortion, dense point clouds, or mesh generation.
- Quick Tracking Quick Tracking is the fast realtime tracking mode. It is best for rapid previews, testing footage, and getting a practical sparse camera solve when the footage and camera intrinsics are suitable.
- Lens calibration and STMaps Max The Heavy Tracking lens workflow preserves the complete solved COLMAP camera model and exports portable calibration JSON plus float STMaps for undistorting the original plate and redistorting CG back into it.
- Import results Import Results separates processing from scene import. Scan one folder to choose among indexed Quick, Heavy, Tripod, Planar, Dense, or Mesh results and to scope the solved-lens source used by calibration and STMap export.
Planar and tripod tracking
- Tripod Tracker Max Tripod Tracking is a true rotation-only camera solver for footage where the optical center stays fixed and the camera pans, tilts, or rolls. It estimates focal length automatically, creates a Blender camera parented to an MM3D Tripod Adjustment Empty, and preserves every accepted keyframe if a later frame fails.
- Planar Tracker Max Planar Tracking solves the perspective motion of a flat surface such as a screen, sign, wall, card, or set-extension plane. You draw an editable four-corner quad over the surface in the MotionMaster 3D Track Workspace, track it forward or backward, correct drift non-destructively, and publish a native Blender Plane Track, a compositor Corner Pin, and a 3D plane or an animated camera.
- Track Workspace and AdjustTrack Max The Track Workspace is the dedicated window behind Planar Tracking. It has its own layer list, shape tools, timeline, curve editor, and Output panel, so every surface in a shot lives in one project. AdjustTrack fixes a drifting solve by hand without overwriting it, Track Error (Measured) shows where a track really struggles, and Add To Existing Camera lets one solved camera carry as many surfaces as the shot needs.
Scene setup and cleanup
- Point cloud cleanup Max Point Cloud Cleanup removes noisy or unwanted points from imported Quick, Heavy, Dense, and mesh-related point cloud objects so the reconstruction becomes easier to inspect and use.
- Floor alignment The Aligner panel turns arbitrary reconstruction orientation into a usable Blender scene. It can snap selected floor points to the XY plane and flip inverted tracks.
- Camera inversion Max Camera Inversion converts an animated tracked camera into inverted keyframed motion on a target object, letting the camera stay fixed while the object or point cloud carries the apparent movement.
- Perspective Matcher Perspective Matcher helps align a Blender camera to a still image when there is no video track. It uses perspective guide lines, vanishing points, focal length estimates, origin controls, and camera orientation tools.
Reconstruction and surfaces
- Dense point clouds Max Dense Point Cloud generation creates a high-detail colorized representation of the tracked scene from Heavy Tracking results. It is useful when sparse points are not enough to understand the environment.
- Mesh generation Max Mesh Generation creates a reconstructed mesh from dense point cloud data. It is intended for reference geometry, proxy surfaces, and VFX layout rather than replacing final modeling in every shot.
- 3D Point Generator Max The 3D Point Generator triangulates a real world-space point from two observations of the same feature on different frames of a tracked camera. You work directly in Camera View over the footage: Ctrl + Middle Mouse a feature, move in time, and Ctrl + Middle Mouse the same feature again.
- Point Cloud Surface Max Point Cloud Surface reconstructs a controllable 2.5D mesh from a Blender Point Cloud or mesh vertices. It is intended for floors, roads, walls, facades, and other surfaces that can be represented as one depth over a fitted plane.
- Camera footage projection Max Camera Footage Projection creates a live, non-destructive front projection from a tracked camera background image, sequence, or movie clip onto a mesh.
- Multi-frame texture bake Max Multi-Frame Texture Bake fuses visible observations from one or more tracked camera plates into a permanent packed texture for static reflection, lighting, and shadow-catching geometry.
Account and jobs
- Account and license The Account panel activates MotionMaster 3D on your machine. It is the only panel you see while logged out; after login it shows your license type, a license refresh button and your notification settings.
- Progress and notifications Max MotionMaster 3D tracks long-running jobs through an in-Blender Progress panel and cloud-backed job updates. Version 1.0.7 adds a real Cancel action for active Heavy, Dense, and Mesh process sequences.
- Reset workspace Reset Workspace clears generated tracking and reconstruction outputs from the current sequence folder while preserving source image sequences. It helps avoid stale imports and confusing old result files.
- Feedback and support The Feedback & Support panel opens a short online feedback form in your browser, so you can report a bug, request a feature or ask a question without leaving your workflow. For a direct conversation, use the contact page while logged in.
